There’s truly nothing better than spring in St. Augustine. When Justin and Alyson reached out about photographing their wedding at The Lightner Museum, I knew it would be an amazing day. The combination of incredible architecture, perfect weather, and this couple’s fun, laid-back vibes made for a beautiful wedding day full of love and laughter.
The Lightner Museum, formerly Hotel Alcazar, is one of my favorite wedding venues in St. Augustine. The Spanish-style building centers around an incredible courtyard filled with palm trees and a koi pond. Inside, the building is filled with incredible art and artifacts, as well as a 3-story ballroom with columns and arches reminiscent of ancient Europe.
Justin and Alyson started their wedding day with a ceremony in the historic pool, where they exchanged hand-written vows under the twinkle lights. Afterward, guests headed outside to enjoy the Florida sunshine for cocktail hour. One of Alyson and Justin’s main priorities for their day was getting to enjoy cocktail hour with their guests, so we worked extensively with them to create the perfect timeline. Several areas on the property of The Lightner Museum require photo permits and very limited photo opportunities, but we were able to get both the portraits they dreamed of and get them back to celebrate with their guests.
Guests headed back inside to the ballroom for the reception, where they were greeted by an incredible live band. Justin and Alyson really know how to throw a party! The dance floor was packed all night long, and everyone had a smile on their face from start to finish.
I love working with fun, laid-back couples like Justin and Alyson. These two really know how to roll with the punches – in fact, their first date was outdoors in the middle of the Covid pandemic. When couples are able to really enjoy their wedding day the way that these two did, it makes my job as a wedding photographer that much easier. After all, your wedding is about celebrating your love and enjoying time with your friends and family.
If you’re getting married in St. Augustine or considering a wedding at The Lightner Museum, I’d love to be a part of your day. Working with couples at this gorgeous, historic spot is always a delight. Reach out, and let’s discuss getting the wedding photos of your dreams!
